Sweet 1980's Stevens Caps jersey for sale...get some!

http://m.ebay.com/itm/221943277553?_mwBanner=1

That's one of those late 80s retail jerseys...kind of the indo-edge of its day.

Those all featured double elbows/shoulders, pro crests, but no fight straps, a size tag (s, m, l, xl) sewn into the shoulder seam, and they all have the sewn-on hem patch that was used circa '84. Someone added a fight strap to that particular jersey at some point.

Of note, the on-ice gamers that have the same CCM hem logo were either mesh or ultrafil knit - Air-Knit didn't exit back then - and they all feature a manufacturer's tag and born-on tag that was sewn into the upper collar after the fact, not during the manufacturing process.

That particular caps jersey also looks like the stars are too small compared to the real deal

Some other examples of those retails -

A lot of them have Cosby logos since Cosby's sold a lot of retail stuff back then.

Cosby's used to have an entire rack of these types of jerseys back in the day. Sometimes they would be strewn across the floor on their sale days and you would find these for a good value. I remember in the mid to late 90's still finding leftovers of these for like $80-100 a pop.

That "Lemeow" just sold a month ago for $65

Slim, the Hawks pic you posted is of the one I bought.

Essentially this style / the "Indo Edge of the 80's" was like a "Retail Authentic of the 90's" ??

Was there a step up from these 80's retail jerseys or was this it?

We should come up with one classification,

I know a lot on the board exclusively collect gamers, I am so deep in the "Retail Authentic" type that it would be impossible to reverse the flow.

I have a North Stars away jersey in that old retail style without the fight strap since I'm sure I'm not gonna find a real deal for a reasonable price. Had to have one and for me it was good enough. Was never customized and I still haven't bothered to do it up.

I'm in the same boat.

I like the retail authentics because they aren't chewed up and if you are diligent you can find a steal every now and again.

They are put together really well and I don't mind having a few from different teams in my collection.

If anyone needs an 80's fight strap, here's a good sacrificial jersey...

I've been buying practice jerseys for the last month off of ebay from 6.00 to 20.00 that are authentic with all the trimmings. You just need to look around. I just picked up a 90's Red Wings one that is fully sewn for 9.00. I've stripped two of them specifically for the fight straps and now have a Panthers crest and a Blues crest too.
