Outside of the previously listed top-10 prizes, there really isn't anything I would have wanted at that price.

Thanks. Yea aside from the obvious keepers, nothing really stands out <_<

I don't regret passing up this grab bag.

This isn't technically a new arrival, but it's an addition to an old arrival, haha. Craig Conroy is in town this weekend, and his #7 jersey will be retired by Clarkson at tomorrow's game. I got a call from his aunt, who happens to be a very good friend of my mom, saying they were all at a local restaraunt. She invited me to come down, and bring my jersey, he would sign it. Craig was incredibly down to earth, and --no surprise to anyone who's seen his interviews-- very chatty! We talked for probably 10 minutes, and he signed my jersey. Awesome experience!

A big thanks to Brilliant for the awesome work he did putting the sweater together-- Craig even commented on how impressive the work was!

A fun little fact about Pederson's: They actually made on-ice jerseys for the North Stars AND Islanders during the 1984-85 seasons.

That is a great story on that signature! Was that your first time meeting him? You must have been thrilled!

It was indeed my first time meeting him. Being that I'm on the east coast and he's spent most of his career out west, I've never really had the chance. So meeting him in one of my favorite local restaraunts was pretty incredible. When he signed it, he asked if I just wanted him to sign "cc22", because "If you want to sell it, a personalized autograph decreases the value..." As you can see from the picture, he personalized it...this jersey is never leaving my collection! My collection is nowhere near as impressive as most of the regulars on this board...but we all have to start somewhere, I suppose.

Glad to hear Conroyfan!

It's good that you get excited!

I can't tell if this is sarcastic or geniune...

Genuine.

I just bought 2 jerseys today and Im meh--didn't even photograph them or go deep into photomatching. I dont have a favorite player (still playing in the NHL). It's awesome that you got to meet your favorite and have a good story!

Couldn't be much happier with this. LA Kings draft pick and current Manchester Monarch David Kolomatis Owen Sound Attack jersey. This beauty is covered in puck and stick marks, has a team repair on the shoulder, and three unrepaired cuts.

The seller also included a trading card of Kolomatis wearing the jersey and a special game ticket featuring him doing a ceremonial puck drop.

Redbeard, I'm always happy to see a Greek last name on a jersey.

Jeremy has a very important point here, conroyfan. Ask one of the more seasoned collectors on here like Slim, Brilliant, walzthewarrior, or Sungod, if they've hit the wall at some point over the years. I'm willing to bet that all of them have. This is why he's saying to really soak it all in. After a certain point, the thrill of it starts to fade a little bit. It's not to say that there isn't something to keep the collecting hobby (habit) alive and well, but it does get to a point where cynicism plays in, especially with regular authentic jerseys. I've gotten to a point where for some jerseys, I see them on eBay and groan to myself "great, another f*cking strip job".

It's a great hobby, but there are definitely points during which you're going to ask "why bother?". So it's important to find a way to keep yourself excited about it. And for those points where you want to throw a jersey out the freaking window because of a garbage strip-job or the tiniest incorrect detail on customization, hopefully you'll have moments like these, in which you hold up your jersey and say "wow, this is a piece of art". Hopefully...

Exactly what I was saying Angelo!

I still haven't photographed the jerseys I bought at 10:30 this morning. For me, they are just another jersey. It's great to see someone that has a good story...it's refreshing. It beats reading one of the threads over at GW.net and watching the Devils fans argue with each other.

I'm trying very hard to avoid "just another jersey" syndrome. My last three jerseys are a college and two OHL jerseys of my favorite Monarchs players.

I can get tons of Monarchs and Kings jerseys but digging and finding something cool and unusual is keeping the fun alive.

If you don't mix it up things can get dreadfully boring.

I don't have too many gamers. I don't think I necessarily have a focus yet. At least not a finely tuned one. I'd like to get into it more, but the prices keep talking me out of it, for the most part.

Very true. My last jersey I was genuinely excited for was my Mississauga Majors Cizikas...before that one? Probably my Smolinski gamer back in December 2011. I wanted to refocus on Isles only, but it's getting to the point where I have no room! Our gamers are so cheap compared to others! I just bought a jersey I wanted for a while, but Im probably going to resell it because I don't want it anymore -- It doesn't do anything for me. I feel like I am turning into Stan in that episode of South Park where he becomes cynical http://www.aoltv.com/2011/06/09/south-park-season-15-episode-7-mid-season-finale-recap/ .

Maybe it's because I bought a Rolston and Reasoner today, that's why I am down :D. Needed the royal (Rolston) and figured what the hell on the Reasoner.

I started this topic a while back and thought I was done

http://forums.icejerseys.com/index.php?showtopic=4684&hl=

Then I found there are many different levels to collecting.

Buying:::

Blanks - Having them lettered up

Keepers that have been customized with the player you wanted

Strip jobs (I actually found this fun after I learned the proper technique)

Fixer uppers (stained, snagged)

Patch hunt

I just started looking for older - cheap jerseys to cannibalize for name plates or fight straps

Some day I hope to get into doing my own customization.

The fun never ends!

If you happen to cannibalize a KOHO jersey for a nameplate, I could really use a fight strap. Please keep me in mind, ok?
