If a green Jofa practice jersey of dubious provenance is worth so much, think what a white one with obvious wear and a number linking it to a player must sell for.

Wait? The one with wear is less than half of the green one?

I have a questions about game worn jerseys.

Since I know it's possible to buy some GWJ on Montreal canadiens website http://canadiens.nhl.com/club/l_fr/page.htm?id=51952 I really want to buy one Plekanek (750$) or Eller (600$). But that's a lot of money !

I wonder if one day (imagine, years later) I want to sell the jersey, will I "lost" money of the value will be about the same ?

What do you think, if the price fair ?

Second question, how can you guys buys some so expensive jerseys (I saw a GW Stamkos here !) ?? Are you millionaires ?? :ninja::thumbsup:

Figuring out what a jersey might sell for in the future is a guessing game at best. Just look at ebay and notice how many jerseys sell there for even less than Meigray summer/holiday sale prices. Some that people think will go low end up skyrocketing. I don't think you can buy a jersey worrying about if you'll get your money back in 1, 5, or 10 years. Buy it because you want it in your collection. Jerseys are not a safe investment.

A fair price is subjective. As long as at the end of the deal you feel that you got what you paid for, it was probably fair. Spend what you can afford and are comfortable dishing out for a shirt.

Yeah I understand what you mean, but, if tomorrow I buy a jersey 600$ and in 3 years I sell it 200$... I just wanted to know, thanks to your experiences, what is your opinion about it.

600$ for a 24 yo player with these stats http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/pdisplay.php?pid=105385 what is your opinion, fair price ?

While it's helpful to use logic and reason in most investment situations, this is probably not one of those situations.

Unless you plan on either proudly displaying or wearing the jersey it's not worth it. You have to decide if it's fair because it's your opinion of the value that matters.

From an investment standpoint you would have to decide if you believe in Eller-- if he goes on to have a great career then you could very well make a nice profit one day, but there is never any guarantee-- you're simply relying on the opinions of others to set a price just as your opinion originally did.

I think the price of the Set 2, 2011-12 Eller on the secondary market in the gw.net forums is a much more fair price.

If you are asking for confirmation that the Eller is a legit game-worn, it's not possible to be certain just by looking at some blurry photos. Is there an LOA from the team, is the jersey photomatched, etc.? These are things you'll have to ask the seller.

He says "Lars Eller white 2011-12 Montreal Canadiens away set 2-Jersey has light wear with stick/puck marks on the front and arms, can be photomatched to numerous Getty images, Comes with Canadiens LOA"

but I don't see the stick mark on the front on any photo

The Canadiens wore three sets according to their game worn sales page. The jersey listed on gw.net was used 19 Dec 2011 - 28 Feb 2012.

It appears the mark on the front right might appear lightly in this pic.

Looking at the right date range helps when searching for a photomatch. ;)

He says " There's also numerous others from the set dates of the candiens shirtsif you search Lars Eller under Getty images for the following dates,

Away Set 2
December 19, 2011 to February 28, 2012
16 games"
LAK74, your examples seem good...
