Curry1fan
Two of my newest arrivals here. The first is something I picked up in Pittsburgh last weekend when they were selling their blue jerseys for 50% off. This is a blue replica practice jersey. Not that special, but an arrival nonetheless. And I got a bargain for it. Only paid $50. The second is an arrival from Ebay that I purchased last week and got today. This is an alternate jersey commemorating the WBS Penguins fifth season in 2003-2004. It is a replica jersey and doesn't have a name on the back. I may change that some day because that season we went to the Calder Cup Finals and had some popular players on the roster. But we'll see. I also bought a very special jersey (to me anyway) that I am picking up tomorrow. But you'll just have to stay tuned here to find out what it is. Great to see people getting jerseys that they have always wished for.
JeffB
Here is my newest collection of jerseys, all of which were used in the filming of the movie "Miracle". The first thing of interest to notice is some trickery that the director used. Compare these two Mike Ramsey jerseys. The one on the left with the diagonal USA is from the pre-Olympic portion of the film, and the "Again!" scene where Brooks skates the team into the ground following a poor game. This jersey uses a much darker, duller shade of blue and the "white" portions of the jersey are made with a grey fabric color to tone the jerseys way down. Compare it to the bright blue #5 one next to it or the #23 jersey above it with the arched USA from the gold medal game scenes. They are much more vibrant and jump off the screen during the movie. It's the same with the "white" Norway jersey or the shade of red chosen for the Czechoslovakia and Norway road jerseys. It's interesting to see the trick used to make any non-USA Olympic jersey visually duller than the American jerseys worn in any Olympic footage. I'd still like to add a Finland, West Germany and Soviet jersey to complete the set. There were multiple sets of at least some teams, so I'm hoping there are some more out there to be found. I also bought one of the track suits worn by the Soviets in the medal ceremony scene which came with matching pants.

xcdude
FINALLY I get to post in this thread, and of course I get shadowed by JeffB Well this is a very special jersey to me because of the player. The 2007 NHL draft is when I can say I went from being just a fan, to someone who spends all their time devoted to my Hockey Team. The Rangers had been taking off and to build on their success they get a steal in the draft in Alexi Cherepanov. I followed Cherepanov loosely in the Russian leagues and always considered him to be a great prospect and someone who would come to the Rangers after his contract in the KHL expired. Well at the beginning of the 2008-09 season I said to some people I'm pretty sure he's definitely coming to the NHL after his contract was up that year. Well he died that year, and even though I didn't think I personally jinxed it, I was always in shock after he died. I took one of my Rangers jerseys and covered up the name and made it a Cherepanov jersey (which was inaccurate because we all know Rod Gilbert was the last Ranger to wear number 7). I always wanted to honor him because for some reason his death just resonated with me. It's probably because he's only 2 years older than me. Well I finally bought this jersey off eBay from the seller abrom only because I asked him to take a few bucks off of it. I wouldn't have been able to afford it otherwise. Well here is my new 2008-09 Avangard Omsk KHL lutch jersey (size 50 woohoo!). So everything is dye sublimated and is an authentic Lutch jersey. I really, really love it, and am thrilled it is also an inaugural season KHL jersey! Curry1fan
I also have a special jersey to post today: This is a Darcy Robinson Wheeling Nailers game worn jersey from the 2004-2005 season. This jersey is special to me because not only was Darcy a former WBS Penguin, but he died in 2007 while playing in Italy. He collapsed during a game and died at the hospital. We here in WBS did some special things for him during a tribute weekend back in 2008; including raising money for dyslexia awareness/research (a problem he struggled with during his life) and raising a banner to the rafters with his nickname "Robo" that was signed by fans. The team also wore a "ROBO" memorial patch on their jerseys during the season. The collector I purchased this from told me that this is the last jersey Darcy wore in North America; as he left for Italy during the 2005-2006 season. It has some light wear and came with a team LOA. I feel very lucky to have this. Here it is:

lafountain
FINALLY I get to post in this thread, and of course I get shadowed by JeffB Don't worry that is quite an easy task. Though, I do really like that Cherepanov. I have one of his Kait jerseys from before Omsk joined the KHL.

JeffB
Very cool JeffB, how did you find all those jerseys? A seller on ebay got all of them from the film and sold a lot of them off a few years ago. Recently they started listing them again, and for what I felt was a pretty good buy it now price. I won an auction and asked if they had any of the other countries. They started listing those on ebay as well and I picked the ones I wanted and got them all shipped at once to cut down on the shipping. I only wish I hadn't let the Soviet and German jerseys get away the first time around, but they were more expensive then.
