"Gems" of the day (all are Caps-related):

http://cgi.ebay.com/Alexander-Ovechkin-Jer...n%3D3%26ps%3D63 - what is up with the RBK/CCM hybrid thing going on (see last photo) ????

http://cgi.ebay.com/ALEXANDER-OVECHKIN-Cap...=item35a3cd1f31 - nice that they'd pick 1983 as the style to customize it with, but Ovie wasn't even born yet...

http://cgi.ebay.com/Hockey-Jersey_W0QQitem...=item3a5407d77a - customization blunders all over - incorrect/conflicting patches (NHL 75th and Caps 20th were in separate years), Hunter was the A not the C in either year...

http://cgi.ebay.com/CCM-OFFICIAL-NHL-WASHI...=item4a9b8c5bfa - another one from the estate...

Sometimes you really wonder what people were thinking...

The Estate jersey is legit. Too bad its very hard to strip ultrafil. Its a beauty of a jersey, cheap too. Might be worth the risk (still think Brilliant is just what his title says!) if you want a Caps jersey that bad

Not to belabor the point, but here is the background from one of the auction items; you will see that this WAS some guy (maybe crazy, maybe not) who DID personalize tons of amazing jerseys:

"I recently acquired another large amount of sports apparel from an Estate of a 1970's sports shop which closed in our area,to include his private collection. Presented in these listings is one of the jerseys which the original sports companys sent to his store for samples/display purposes. All have the shop owners name,Van De Velde,on the backs."

So I will complain. Sorry.

And yet you are still reading it wrong. The manufacturer sent them to him with the store/owner name already on the jersey as samples. Being samples, they weren't going to put a player on them, nor were they going to send them blank, either. They put the owner name on it most likely to give a "finished" look to them.

Furthermore, this was what...+15 years ago in most cases? They probably didn't concern themselves with such things as "collector value". So even if the owner did request his last name or the store name to be put on the back, so what? To do that in today's world where they actually have a really high collector value would be dumb...but back in the 80s-90s? I doubt they gave two thoughts to it. Chill, man. :P

I can't believe people would pay that much for those... sure they may be authentic, but I sure as hell would not wear those things around with "Van de Velde" and #33 on the back. If I won those, I would strip the name and number off and just wear it blank.

Gotta love the Penguins early 1990s home white though... B)

Too bad his name wasn't smaller like "JONES" or perhaps a bit more French Canadian like say... LEMIEUX! Those are some crazy prices for shirts that are such projects to make right.

I just picked up a group of jerseys on Ebay, what do you guys think.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...utorefresh=true

I know the customization on the Fisherman jersey is off, but I am ok with that for now as I will most likely be changing it up when I get a chance.

I didn't have time to post it up as I kind of stumbled upon the auction, but do these jerseys look good. The brands seem to match up with the thread I found on jerseycentral.org and everything else seems to line up correctly.

He listed the Nordiques and Islanders jersey as authentic when they are clearly replica's.

That can be tricky sometimes with sellers of varying familiarity with jerseys. "Authentic" can mean "just like the players wear on the ice with a fight strap, etc." or it can simply mean "genuine goods which are not knockoffs from overseas", even if the jersey is a replica level example and both are technically correct.

I picked up the white Flames from the estate auction, $45.

Swap the nameplate for "Titov" and I'm good.

Lucky you, he retracted my bid because he refused to ship internationally.

My main concern was the Fish Sticks jersey, I will most likely keep the Nordiques and Blackhawks as well. I definitely plan on selling the Avs since 46 is way too small for me.

The Ducks is still gonna be a game-time decision, if someone has a real interest in it and I can recoup some of the money I spent for the lot, I think I'll let it go.

That may be true but if you read the description they list the blackhawks jersey as a replica with the proper xxl size but for the Islanders and Nordiques they list it as authentic game-cut size 52 which is not the case. The seller knows the difference but didn't list those two jersey's properly.

Maybe the buyer here will get very lucky and when the jerseys arrive both the Islanders and Nordiques will infact be authentics.

I actually am the buyer, and was wondering what my options are if I did indeed want to pursue something like that and maybe do some complaining to PayPal, granted, I should have caught it myself, but seeing the Fish Sticks and Nordiques jersey the authentic descriptions all started to flow together and I would still consider myself happy with the overall purchase, but this does in fact change the value of the goods. Just wondering if there is any path at all to pursue if I am unhappy once the jerseys arrive.

Any input?

I would first contact the seller if the items are not as described and see what he advises. He would probably make you return the whole lot instead of just one or two jerseys. Lately i have been seeing Replica Blank Fishermans going for about 70 on ebay. So a customized Palfy is probably worth around what you paid for it if you think about it. Depending on what the seller says i would then leave appropriate feedback.
