It's hysterical. And people are buying them!! That's what amazes me. I guess some people just have no idea. Some probably have no idea, but there are probably others who don't really care. It gives them a way to get a cheap (usually poorly done though) replica jersey to have for the team they may cheer for. I know when I was in Korea, there were shops all over the place that sold replica jerseys (all knockoffs) and I bought a few. Some were somewhat nicely done, and for $10 each (back in 1999), I wasn't gonna complain.
snake_of_fire
there's the same thing in China. It goes from musical instruments to electronics like ipod and dvd. The worst is that those people have real stores where you can see and try the stuff. I guess the autorities of those countries don't care much about copyright laws. I've heard all kinds of stories of the jerseys you could find over there or have made. One of my instructors had a Rangers starter jersey made up. Here's the interesting part, on the hem, the conference logo patch, was the Western Conference instead of the East. Other than that, the jersey looked good. TBLightningFan
So I thought you guys might want to see this one, its by far one of the most blatant and obnoxious fakes. Plus, check out the seller's name and auction title... http://cgi.ebay.com/07-Tampa-Bay-Lightning...1QQcmdZViewItem So, the fonts are wrong, the blue and white bands are sized incorrectly, it's a "07" jersey with last year's logo, and best of all, it's an "Authentic", but instead of that familiar maple leaf tag, we get a "Made in Korea" tag. Hurray. I wouldn't be quite so annoyed since I run into this sort of thing all the time on the 'bay, but the fact he's calling himself "Ice Jerseys" kinda annoys me. A lot. Check out those photos. Stuff's even crooked! Should I report it as a fake? Will it even do anything?
snake_of_fire
Should I report it as a fake? Will it even do anything? I personnally don't bother reporting it anymore. At least if we all don't report it we jersey they make will stay in such a low quality of imitation.
TBLightningFan
I guess you're probably right on that one. The only down side is, it ruins the ability for someone to buy a gift for another. My gf wanted to get me a Russian jersey for Christmas, but I had to all but buy the thing for myself because she couldn't navigate the fakes. It would be nice to say, "I'd like a Whalers authentic for christmas" to someone, and get what you hoped for, but we all know unless your buyer had a sharp eye, you'd end up with a knockoff. It makes it near impossible to ask for jerseys as gifts. On the other hand, Ebay doesn't seem to do much when you report a counterfit. I've tried before and it didn't seem to affect the auction. lafountain
The colors are off on many of the Korea jerseys due to the fact that they go through catalogs (though now, I imagine they use internet pictures) and then make the jerseys right there in the shops that sell them. I remember walking into one once and a friend of mine was convinced they were real, then we saw a guy sewing the starter logo into the sleeve of a jersey, then he admitted that they aren't authentic at all. Some of the shops there do a much better job than others, but there were some that were really crappy.

Brilliant!
I actually saw that yesterday but for some reason I forgot to post it here. That's a 1991-92 or 1992-93 jersey before the move to Dallas. Not as nice as the green 'N' jerseys but still nice nonetheless.
lafountain
Just a heads up to everyone. There is a seller with "Authentic" Crosby EDGE jerseys on ebay for a very good price. These appear to be fakes though since the pictures show the RBK logo on the wrist which we have determined is not actually on the authentics. http://search.ebay.com/_W0QQsassZjimr212003 Here are auctions of ones that appear to be actual authentics and they don't show the RBK logo on the wrist. http://cgi.ebay.com/CROSBY-Rbk-EDGE-Pengui...1QQcmdZViewItem http://cgi.ebay.com/Pittsburgh-Penguins-Cr...1QQcmdZViewItem

DaNoobie
theres something else too: The NHL logo under the collar on the front isn't embroidered, same with the RBK logo on the back where the collar tag is. On top of that, theres the whole plastic-ky feel to the numbers. I got a couple of these early thinking I was lucky without realizing they're knock-offs, so if anyone wants to take them off my hands, feel free to give me a shout. TBLightningFan
That jersey is clearly fake! I still don't accept it, but seeing these helps me ignore the slug a little bit better. Hopefully these nice concepts will stick around for awhile too. He is working on possible t-shirts and hats with the logo, and is switching to embroidered crests vice tackle twill around the end of the month along with the possiblitlity of a smaller logo going on the shoulders as well. Four more available now including a Medium and XXL. They look friggin sweet and is my idea of what the return to blue and gold should have looked like. http://search.ebay.com/_W0QQsassZcustomorderjerseys
