Loved the read on your dasherboard today about participating in the Olympics beyond 2010.

It's nice to know someone reads those things all the way to the bottom!

I don't go into the editorial realm too often with the blog unless I'm worked up over something and the NHL deciding on when to participate in the Olympics based on where they are held gets me fired up. It's just so selfish not to, even if the benefit is less, the benefit is not zero.

Be sure to check out my rant tomorrow. It's essentially part two of the same topic and concerns when and where this years games, right in good ol' North America, are on TV.

Do you have tickets to the hockey game that will be played there?

Man, I haven't read this thread in while. The tickets are sold out already.

I also want to publicly thank you for letting me feature your Mighty Ducks Selanne jersey on my blog recently. That was the perfect jersey for that topic.

Jeff

You're welcome. I like how you edited the pics.

An Olympic gold medal final on a major network will certainly gather more attention than the Rangers and Lightning playing in Prague. How many of you watched that one?

Not cool man. Not cool.

Wasn't that buried on the NHL Network where no one could see it?

IIRC there were two games over two days - with each team getting to be the "home" team. One game was on Versus, the other was on NHL network.

Being a Rangers fan in a Rangers market I was "spoiled" with the beautiful commentary from Joe Micheletti on the Madison Square Garden network. Despite that, I still watched it! So again, not cool.

Good rant as well, my DVR will be recording both the US game while I am at work and the Russia game while I am asleep. Just gotta find time to get the Russia game in as I can watch the US game when I get home from work.

Suppose that I should add, while I do somewhat agree with your rant, you also gotta take into account the fact that the Olympics being a worldwide event, the people in charge of scheduling have to do something to appeal to the people of the other countries too. While the Russia/Latvia game being on at 11PM my time is a really annoying factor, it is on at 8AM in Moscow. So it would allow the people of Russia to see their team live.

Check out today's entry. It's the 30th Anniversary of the Miracle on Ice and a good day to relive that game following last night's victory by the USA.

Today is the anniversary of the last game the Winnipeg Jets ever played.

I also posted a link to one of the best hockey films ever, "Death by Popcorn - The Tragedy of the Winnipeg Jets".

I hope you'll take a few moments to check it out.

Since I no longer work with my friend Riccardo, Cinco de Mayo came and went without me realizing it. I went with Ziggy Palffy's birthday and the one year history of the Denver Grizzlies.

Plus, I don't own a Mexico jersey, which didn't help matters.

It's our first anniversary at Third String Goalie!

We have two posts today as a result, so be sure not to miss the second one about Steve Yzerman, who shares a birthday with the blog.

We've made a couple small changes to the blog and are also having a sale in our online store to mark the occasion.

Thanks for reading and be sure not to miss today's separate jersey entry about Yzerman below our anniversary message.

I'm going to repeat my plan to do a jersey that matches the number of the date in June this year. A jersey #1 on the first, #2 on the second.

Since the jersey doesn't need to relate to any historical event, I'm open to accepting suggestions for interesting jerseys you like or know of. Two rules, the number on the jersey has to be between #1 and #31 to keep with the theme and your standard, run of the mill NHL jersey is not what I'm looking for.

A high school jersey or Lithuanian National Team jersey is much cooler than an ordinary Red Wings jersey.

While you don't have to include links to photos, they would certainly be appreciated.

I spent the day at the Minnesota State Fair celebrating my birthday today. I took a few business cards for my blog with and was giving them to local sports talk radio hosts just because many of them are former sportswriters and and I thought they may be interested enough to read it and perhaps willing to provide me with some professional feedback.

One of them liked the concept of the blog so much that he asked me to stick around and interviewed me on the spot about my blog live on the air! :o I think I managed to explain the concept of it well enough with no preparation or advance warning of what the questions would be. :)

Here's a link to it. It's the 8/30 Mon Hour 1 episode. They start talking to me right after they talk to the people from the bakery for a couple of minutes.

A special post today on the 9th anniversary of 9/11. Today I featured the jersey of Chief Ray Downey of the FDNY hockey team. Chief Downey was killed when the towers collapsed while he was commanding rescue operations at the World Trade Center.

Please take a moment to check it out.

I remember that night like it was yesterday. I'm really pissed that I can't find any video of it. That night is something that SHOULD be on YouTube rather than all this God-awful 'music' that's around nowadays.
