Today begins The 2011 Third String Goalie Jersey Bracket.

All 86 current jerseys face off to determine which one we think is the best NHL jersey!

I've got to work today and the next day, so we'll see how quickly I can complete this project and add some graphics to it, but hopefully you will enjoy what I've written so far.

Today is the second anniversary of Third String Goalie!

We have two posts today, a summary of the first two years and a sale in our online store, and then our now traditional post on Steve Yzerman, who shares a birthday with Third String Goalie.

Here is my story on Derek Boogaard, someone I had the chance to meet on multiple occasions and have nothing but nice things to say about. He really was a fan favorite in Minnesota.

Today I take a comprehensive look at average attendance figures from all clubs at all levels. I'm not sure anyone has ever compiled a report like this before and there are a few eye opening surprises that I think will be worth your time.

That's a really great writeup. On the NHL level, I didn't realize St Louis was that high in attendance - good for them.

Other than that, those Russian numbers is eye opening like you said. I certainly would have expected them to be at least somewhat close to the NHL numbers

Today is one of those days you should check out my blog. You just might learn something.

It's somewhat similar to the Miracle on Ice when a sporting event takes on greater meaning than just the game itself and at the very least speaks to when it's more justified to riot after a game than simply when your team wins or loses a trophy.

Finally got around to reading the attendance statistics post. This caught my eye:

"#58 Chicago Wolves of the AHL at 7,453, an impressive number playing in the top drawing Blackhawks backyard, making Chicago the world leader in hockey attendance"

It will be interesting to see what happens to the Wolves this year when the new Express (ECHL) start playing about 20 minutes further west. The Express just announced this week they will be affiliated with Columbus Blue Jackets, BTW.

Great post. If you ever need info on the 1950 team that was jailed for treason I'm your man. I did a lot of research on them second semester.

That sounds like something that I need to write about some day. It's a story I've heard of, but don't know inside and out yet. Thanks for the offer.

PM me your email, and I'll send over a copy of the research paper I did. Its a sad, albeit unsurprising story given the time period. An entire generation of Czechoslovak hockey was lost essentially due to government paranoia with no basis in reality. There were tons of other factors too, obviously, but that's the jist of it.

I know we already have a fantasy hockey league for board members here, but I have set up a new one for readers of my website if you are looking for another one to join.

Today is the 30th anniversary of Cooperalls!

We recall the history of and sing our praises for the pants people love to hate.

Cool article on the Cooperall's but none of your videos show up. All I can see is the word "flash" where the video's should be.

The hockey jerseys made into dresses are back on my blog again, and with some great new photos.

Lise takes any jersey and modifies it into a dress for a reasonable fee.

Here's a couple of news items from my website.

Our hosts here at IceJerseys are having one heck of a sale right now - up to 30% off if you order over $150 or more.

For your convenience I have placed a banner at the top of my website to take you to their mainpage which explains the sale.

http://thirdstringgoalie.blogspot.com/

Also, I have debuted a new mobile version of my website for use on smartphones like Android and iPhones. I'm pretty excited about all the features it offers beyond just the daily posts. It's got my twitter feed, my Facebook page, a small gallery of the worst of the worst, a video section I'll work on improving soon and our mission statement.

Check it out and let me know what you think of it!

Here's a QR code for you to scan to take you directly to it.

I really put my best effort into today's story, which think is the kind of unheard story that makes by blog unique. I hope you will all find the time to read it and find that it was worth your time. http://bit.ly/Ocskay

As the person who did the layout/typesetting on the original (shown below) I'm not sure how I feel seeing my work wiped away. <_<

Today we set the record straight about the Quebec Nordiques jerseys they would have worn had the team stayed in Quebec.

For some reason, they appear online everywhere, Wikipedia, Sportslogos.net, etc, with the colors completely wrong and we document what they really were going to look like.
