BladesOfSteel
Just saw these descriptions on classicauctions.net The statement "The classic Canadiens crest, the numbers on the back and sleeves and "ROY" on the nameplate are all in tackle twill and sewn-on" is a bit ambiguous, but made me wonder about the nameplate. Was it Ultrafil or Tackle Twill? I hope its Ultrafil, because I just paid to have one 'fixed'. http://www.classicauctions.net/Default.aspx?tabid=266&auctionid=8&op=viewcat&catid=
Brilliant!
I think they're just referring to the twill itself being all sewn on rather than any screen-printed vinyl or anything else like that. I've seen several Habs 1993 Finals game-worn jerseys and they've all been material plates.

sungod661
I have a 93 cup shirt it is same material as the shirt itself. As for twill name plates in general the Winnipeg jets were the last to use them in 1995-96 with the exception of Twill nameplates that were used in 08-09 on the new orange retro style jersey only. This continued on the orange jerseys only in 09-10 Hope it helps

slimcutta
As for twill name plates in general the Winnipeg jets were the last to use them in 1995-96 with the exception of Twill nameplates that were used in 08-09 on the new orange retro style jersey only. Jets had twill plates starting in '87-88 (satin before) until 89-90. From '91 to '96 I'm pretty sure they were jersey material (ultrafil). Brilliant!
No sir. They definitely did use twill plates. http://www.classicauctions.net/Default.aspx?tabid=263&auctionid=63&lotid=
slimcutta
No sir. They definitely did use twill plates. http://www.classicau...id=63&lotid=849 Mr. Needa's a cat...7 lives to go. My bad. I've got tons of Jets photos, and I've referenced plenty of auctions - http://www.classicauctions.net/Default.aspx?tabid=263&auctionid=63&lotid=851 http://www.classicauctions.net/Default.aspx?tabid=263&auctionid=57&lotid=773 http://www.classicauctions.net/Default.aspx?tabid=263&auctionid=6&lotid=408 http://www.classicauctions.net/Default.aspx?tabid=263&auctionid=34&lotid=403 http://www.classicauctions.net/Default.aspx?tabid=263&auctionid=26&lotid=478 http://www.classicauctions.net/Default.aspx?tabid=263&auctionid=19&lotid=440 but I guess without a flash making the twill stick out, I've never read the descriptions to confirm, and a lot of them do mention that it's twill. And since it matches so nicely they look like they're ultrafil. It sure doesn't stick out like it used to - This is pretty perfect timing too, 'cause I've got a few Jets jerseys I need done up...which raises a very important question - anyone know where to find matching twill for a Jets jersey? Brilliant!
Yeah, it's kinda tough to tell in some instances. They definitely did wear twill though. Many times, you can tell on the TV broadcasts when the twill reflects light so much more than the material itself. In fact, I was just watching the Jets' last game in Winnipeg last week and I could see all sorts of twill plates shining on.
sungod661
Like I stated earlier 1000% it was twill they used, the twill that was used in the last set was very thin twill making it almost not noticeable so much so it feels kind of cheap but rest assured it is twill.
