Elscorcho
So I've been looking at the Oilers 3rd jersey that were manufactured from the early-mid 2000s that were designed by Todd Macfarlane. I know the first few years this was manufactured it was done by koho and in 2006 it was done by Reebok. I've seen a few with CCM on the neck, when did the Oilers wear the CCM branded version of this jersey?
TheKevinShow
They didn’t. The on-ice jerseys were only ever made by Koho and Reebok. When Reebok took over the league’s contract, all of the replicas made between 2005 and 2007 were made with CCM branding. Why they did that, no one knows. slimcutta
No one knows? Please. KOHO and Reebok didn't make any jerseys. CCM-Maska/Sport Maska Inc. is the company that made them all. KOHO was just a sister company owed by CCM (The Hockey Company) at the time, so they marketed both, branding CCM on home, and mainly KOHO on road/alternate jerseys with a few exceptions, until 2004 when home/road jerseys switched, but that's a whole other story. All KOHOs 2001-04, and RBKs after 2004 when they signed the branding contract with the NHL through 2017, were still made by Sport Maska, and you can see this in the hip tags of these jerseys. The NHL deals for on-ice branding doesn't necessarily apply to practice jerseys, ref jerseys, other leagues, etc, even if they were made by the same company, hence why we see so many other brands out there, and in the case of NHL retail fan jerseys, CCM-Maska used it's most popular branding at the time, CCM. Some info here - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NHL_uniform And I outlined the history of CCM and Sport Maska merging to intro my 1983-1993 jersey book, which was also the catalyst behind those 10 years specifically - http://thejerseybook.com/1983-1993/ Looks like SP and Adidas combined to buy Maska's factory in 2017, instead of contracting to them going forward - https://www.lapresse.ca/actualites/201708/24/01-5127324-un-geant-quebecois-du-chandail-de-hockey-voit-le-jour.php
