Based on what you know and the information below regarding the options and expected costs for jerseys, which type of jersey do you think you will be most likely to buy? The Classic (550) Replica jersey, will be available next year in the same designs as this year, but in Dark (Home) version only. Teams that will change their uniforms will not make this jersey available in the new design... only in this year's design. The price for these jerseys should remain under $90 USD. The new Premier Replica Jersey will retail for approx. $110 USD, however this jersey will no longer come with screen printed crests as originally feared. Instead, it will include a full twill and embroidered front crest and screen print on twill sewn shoulder crests. This jersey will be offered in both Home and Away versions. The new RBK EDGE Authentic Jersey will not retail at the current $345 USD price for the 2007 All-Star Jersey. In 2007-2008 you will be able to pick up a RBK EDGE Authentic Jersey for around $250 USD. I'd rather have a smaller collection of all authentic than a larger collection of replicas. It isn't that I don't like the replicas either, but I just will always prefer the more heavy duty, pro-quality product. Unfortunately, the price is going up and my list is getting longer. I still don't understand why the crest will be embroidered and shoulder patch will be screenprinted on tackle twill. Unlike Mach_9, I like having a large collection of replicas. 90% of the time, the only one who knows or even cares that the jersey is a replica is me, so I don't mind having a lot of them. There was a time when I could build up a good arsenal of replica jerseys, so I just stuck with that. I don't care for the fighting straps, so authentic jerseys weren't a priority for me. Years ago, I have used it as a conversation piece when flirting with some lady hockey fans I know, though (it must have worked, I married one of them!). Trust me, I don't look down on replicas, nor those who collect them at all - in fact I'm sometimes envious of them and their much larger collections, but for my own part, when it comes down to it, I prefer to get one authentic over 2 replicas every time. Watch prices and if they come down a little I may go for an authentic. The new replica doesn't seem that bad but still screen printed shoulder patches with embroidered crest? Bizarre. Though most traditional teams will likely not make any changes here, a bunch of teams may alter striping on their jerseys (such as eliminating lower horizontal stripes, and possibly adding vertical stripes (a la new Sabres, Swift jerseys etc.). Does this change your vote if you chose Classic 550, if you know that the striping on your jersey may be outdated next season? Or would you still rather stay with tradition? The new 550s will lock me into a colored jersey. If jerseys are changing, which several are, I really have to see the 2007-08 designs before I decide what to buy, so I need not change my vote. If the team doesn't wear shoulder patches (like the Ducks), I'll probably go for the lesser expensive jersey. Currently, no teams I would buy a jersey for fall into that provision. It doesn't change my mind much at all, if I was to get another jersey or two, they would be original 6 that I know are not changing to the best of my knowledge. On a plus note, I got to see an all-star replica up close, I like the feel of the fabric, doesn't feel cheap. The bad side is that I don't like the elastic around the wrist, whatever that is. Also the crest doesn't look...sharp. But I will confidently say they are not horrible but not great either. As it stands my strategy will be to shop for current authentics of teams regardless of changes for next year. They really need to work on the white jersey- the color scheme good but with the logo it looks terrible (oddly- not as bad in the blues but I am still not a fan of the slug).
