Did Mario Lemieux ever wear a Pro Player jersey?

According to my understanding the Penguins had Pro Player jerseys in 1999-2000.

Lemieux retired after the 1996-1997 season. Lemieux came back in 2000-2001, in December. That year the Penguins did not wear Pro Players jerseys.

How did a seller then on ebay just sold a GAME WORN jersey for 686$ claiming Lemieux scored a goal in a game wearing it?

Is this even possible?

A similar jersey was sold for 840$ btw - http://www.ebay.com/itm/300644646141?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649

The whole story is a bit shady. Mario wouldn't just give anyone his game-worn jersey off his back. At best, it may have been some sort of charity game that Mario played in and then given away afterwards. No way it was an official NHL game.

No, Mario never wore Pro Player. Hell, if you look at the collar, you can actually see the little plastic tab hanging there where the retail tags would've been hung from. People are morons.

The players jerseys surely have the tags on them before they become GAME WORN, eh? :)

But agreed, we know its not a Game Worn anyway!

I don't think it was the case with ProPlayer game worn jerseys, but with the CCM/KOHO/RBK 6100s the team-issue jerseys that eventually become game issue/worn jerseys aren't tagged the same as retail jerseys. They only have the size tag in the neck area and a small paper tag on the sleeve.

Pro Player, Nike and Starter game-worn jerseys all had the same manufacturer tags in the collar as the ones sold at retail. I'm not sure why but that's just the way it was. CCM/KOHO though, like Matt said, never did. It was just the size tag in the collar and that's it.

$ 686.00 :blink::wacko:

And he ruined a great rare jersey too !

it should have been a Jagr, right ?

The autograph a lone is worth 400.00 so if the person bought it for that then maybe he got a good deal in his eyes as some people are not as picky /anal about if the player played in that eara of jersey or who the maker was its alabout the LOGO
