tb426
Just want to share... Just got my set 3, Edge 2.0, Ryan Suter 07-08 Predators Gamer. Interesting in a sense on how Cutting Edge customized the jersey. No more kiss-cut, which the Preds used Prior to lockout. Both the numbers and letters, nameplate, are in a sense...ULTRAFIL. Yes, Ultrafil...for the 2-colour numbers, they are one-piece ultrafil (so the colours are dyed/printed into the ultrafil. The name "SUTER" as well, dyed/printed into the white nameplate, which is also ultrafil... I guess this is another way to make the jersey "lighter", one piece is obviously lighter than 2-piece tackle twill Really won't be surprise that 5-10 years down the road we will see the end of tackle twill on jerseys, except the logo of course... For all those gamers collectors, any interesting customization by pro teams out there???
JustAnothaVictim
Really? Cutting Edge? I thought they switched to a company called Sublistitch. The Ducks have their jerseys made up there, I think they're also dye-sublimated numbers and letters.
Brilliant!
There's actually a handful of teams out there that use this crap now. I know for sure that the Preds(obviously) and Ducks use it but I think there's more than that too. I'm pretty sure last years All-Star jerseys had them as well. Isn't it called SmoothFit or something like that? BOOOOOOO. Give me that awesome weight of a stacked triple-layer kit anyday.
JustAnothaVictim
I double checked my archive and the ducks used semi kiss cut lettering by Sublistitch last season. There's only the Whitney jersey with that smoothfit lettering because it was made in a hurry (according to beckettmedia)
Brilliant!
Really? I could have SWORN I saw one of those kits styles at the MeiGray expo last year. Maybe not.
JustAnothaVictim
Yes, I have a whole bunch of pics of Ducks jerseys. There's also a set online from this season with semi kiss cut lettering. Some of the auctions have close-up pics where you can see it. As for the Preds, they had two styles of those smoothfit lettering. At first they had the top "layer" with printed/screened stitching, now they have without those stitchings.
irishlaxburger2
Pretty sure this is the company that customizes the Predators' jerseys. SubliTwill They offer dye sublimated twill (numbers, nameplates, logos, etc).
guam64
I have a Preds EDGE 1.0 gamer that was customized the exact same way. I can back what JAV is saying about the Ducks jerseys, the Whitney Spears jersey was the only one that had "Smoothfit" customization. The Ducks were on the road at the time when the Pens dumped that worthless piece of trash to them.

xcdude
So this is what that SmoothFit crap was... I heard about that it was being used for the last all star game, and never heard about it again. Glad to know it didn't die.. (of course I'm kidding). JimmyGagner
honestly, have you ever heard a player say "we didn't win because we had 2-layer tackle twill slowing us down" give us the good stuff!
DerbyCoyote
So are they "faked" stitches between the blue and yellow on the numbers TB?
tb426
So are they "faked" stitches between the blue and yellow on the numbers TB? Depends on how you interpret "fake". The only stitching is the yellow that sewn together the jersey and the number. If you look at my pic, you may think there there is blue stitching as well, but there isn't. It really looks at though it was "photocopy" onto the material and then sewn on to the jersey...
LetsGoCaps
This is funny, because just yesterday I thought about posting about this subject. I have a GW Springfield Falcons Stephane Goulet jersey, and it was customized in the exact same way. The jersey itself is an Edge 2.0, with the nameplate a one-piece ultrafil fabric with the name (maybe) dye-sublimated. The numbers on the Falcons jerseys are one layer ultrafil with "fake" three layers....complete with fake stitching (the one piece is actually stitched on zig-zag).
