akteon Posted March 12, 2014 Report Share Posted March 12, 2014 I actually saw the link and thought he was trying to ask why they don't have specialty jerseys and patches in NHL video games ... now I'm sorts of confused.If you just want a schedule of specialty patches/jerseys for the NHL, I don't think anything official is produced by the league. Sites like icethetics do a decent job of trying to announce them when they find out. Sometimes the teams themselves don't do a great job of announcing them in advance. Obviously in the case of a memorial patch like the Boston Strong ribbons or the Lokomotiv patches there's not much time to announce it. I just noticed on these weird links if you hover over them they say "Link added by VigLink" which is some service that automatically adds links to retail items to drive sales. I'm guessing this got added with some of the new IJ Forum changes CryWolf posted about recently. I've yet to have it happen on one of my posts, so I wonder if we're able to edit the post and remove them. Basically they're just more spam in my book. I will check icethetics regularly from now on. I've read the Modano Night announcement there. They should announce them more in advance, Those nights sure are great for the player to be honoured, the fans and so on. But that's my opinion. modano1973 Posted March 12, 2014 Report Share Posted March 12, 2014 The NHL website will sometimes post these announcements on their website, if it is announced well in advance. Modano's number retirement on March 8, 2014 was announced in June 2013. Looks like Nieuwendyk's ceremony was only announced less than a week before the actual ceremony took place.
