JeffB
Hey guys, check out this article! http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2006/writ...bers/index.html When Guillaume Latendresse wore #84 for Montreal, it was the last number to be worn in a game. SI then created a list of the best player to wear each jersey number - 101 of them since they included 0 and 00! It's sure to spark some controversy with some of the picks. Personally I don't think Marian Gaborik wearing #82 for a couple of weeks and switching back to #10 after going into a slump beats out Martin Straka. Mach_9
I've seen that artcile a couple of times, and I agree with you for the most part on the Straka/Gabby bit, but I got a feeling, reading that article that instead of judging the player's performance while they wore that number, they just decided to judge the player's overall talent and such and if they ever wore the number they gave it to them. Gabby will probably be a better career player than Straka. Straka deserves to be remembered as the best 82, but the way they did things, Gabby is viewed as the better player and gets the credit, even though he barely wore it.
