Big A HG
What exactly is Durene? I've never found an answer, and I've seen different shirts from different sports that use the material, and sometimes it seems like it's even a different material depending on the jersey. Is it a really tightly-knit wool? I'd like to know exactly what it is...
Hawks Win
Found a "sort of" definition here: http://histclo.com/fashion/store/mail/cou/us/chron/930/30/fab/f30dur.html Looks like they used it a lot for football jerseys in the 60's: http://www.jerseycentral.org/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=2668 Working on another project? Brilliant!
Durene actually refers to the stuff that was used to treat the material itself. The jerseys were usually made of a polyester or cotton blend(I think) that was treated with the durene chemical which gave it that nice and shiny look that it has. It wasn't too thick but it was kinda similar to an ultrafil only not as tightly knit. Here's a good shot of what it looks like up close: http://www.dropthepucks.com/Fredericktown/images/St.l/81-82Turnball1.JPG

Yes, more projects in the works, of course. I don't really collect NHL jerseys (although I'd love to start doing a Toews collection, among other former Sioux, like Parise, Oshie, Belfour, etc...), so the goal right now is start punching out the old vintage ones that you can't buy anymore.
