FLeUry
I bought a Pens Fleury winter classic jersey from shop.nhl.com. I read horror story's from other people and was skeptical to order from them. I decided to take the chance. I paid $170. Just got it today and am pretty disappointed. They stiched all the numbers and front crest on which I was very happy about. The stitching of the 29 on the back is very sketchy though (See pictures below). I have a crosby jersey that I bought from icejerseys and its 100% perfect. Nothing like this one from shop.nhl.com. I was going to order from IceJerseys but they are sold out of medium and large sizes. Some spots on the blue are a little bubbly. It isn't even stitched in the bottom circle of the 9. It looks like they tried to stitch it and removed the thread. The stitching isn't very straight either and goes outside the lines in spots. http://i1138.photobucket.com/albums/n534/FIeury/DSCF0723.jpg Notice the blue and white are not straight. http://i1138.photobucket.com/albums/n534/FIeury/DSCF0725.jpg Here you can see excess string hanging and how they went back over parts. Notice the bottom circle of the nine is not stitched. http://i1138.photobucket.com/albums/n534/FIeury/DSCF0727.jpg All the other stitching is perfect. Just the back numbers look like a 10 year old did it. Am I overreacting or is this a bad customization job?

chow_hound
Holy Crap. Having never used NHL.com for customization due to ALL of the comments about how brutal it is, this sadly would confirm that they are one of the worst. I would contact them and request them to do up a new one meanwhile send yours back. They may try to just fix yours which is going to take forever so see what options they will give you. It's a very recent jersey so they may have some pre customized ones, but regardless I would definitely contact them.
nogoal99
Not defending this job, but sometimes you have to go back over stitching if the bobbin runs out and to finish your stitch. So that's not exactly a flaw. But you really should complain, the quality that I've seen coming out of the store front for the LEAGUE itself should not be one of the worst you can get. The fact that appliqué customization exists is terrible and it's cost is robbery. Reebok and the NHL needs to get buried in complaints or it won't change and we will see lower and lower quality sweaters each year. Seacrest out. carsoni4
Good Lord, not only is that a "customization laugher", but that jersey is so bad, it actually looks fake! It's obviously legit if you ordered from nhl.com -- but man... what a stinker. My condolences. Edited January 18, 2011 by carsoni4

Dude, Good luck getting it fixed...Years back they misplaced the team patch on my Salo All Star jersey and they basically told me tough crap. At the time I think they were outsourcing the lettering to regional local shops, chances are the cheapest bidder. I remember the jersey being shipped from some shop in middle PA. Any time sombody asked me "where I got a certain jersey, my answer was DONT use NHL.com. Hopefully someone else will hook you up and fix it for you. Still a nice jersey though. klam23
Great Googa Mooga!! That is not right and it kinda pisses me off looking at it. I think NHL has terrible service in general from what I've heard. I mean the running word is their customizations are no good, their customer service seems crap for people who have ordered jerseys and have had mistakes. Even NHL Gamecenter I've heard their customer service is bad. I got it this year and if you don't want to continue service, you have to call customer service (and apparently this is the only way to do it) before a specific date or else they will just automatically bill you. I mean that's a bit crap isn't it because shouldn't I be in more control over the service then they are? For a brand that's trying to expand their customer base, they don't seem to do much to please the customer. That's my rant...
HawksFan719
I got 1 jersey done by NHL.com before I really knew better and it was bad- skinny, off-center numbers. IJ will get more jerseys in your size, or find a blank somewhere else and have IJ customize it.

They don't give you a phone number to talk to anyone and the email is a form on the site not an address. They gave me back my money after about a week of constant emailing. Just a heads up. FLeUry
I found someone with a very similar situation as mine... http://letsgopens.com/scripts/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=46743&start=75 His jersey shipped from the SAME place mine did. Smock, PA. He eventually got a refund. Funny thing is a couple days after getting his refund he got an email from "sportsauthority.com" Regarding his customization refund. lol. So the NHL must be outsourcing their jersey customization to sports authority. What a joke.

They're a huge, fancy-Arse corporation, and your concerns and opinions are absolutely meaningless to them.
F-liars
GSI runs the commerce sites for NHL Shop, Sports Authority, ######'s Sporting Goods, Fogdog, TeamStore, Modell's, etc. They pretty much share the same inventory, but NHL Shop will obviously have a more hockey-centric catalog. The jerseys are customized by Stahls'. I bought an authentic jersey from them in November. It came back with the numbers on the back too close, almost touching each other. I told customer service about it. They gave me a free shipping return label to Stahls', shipped it out, and it returned a couple weeks later with properly spaced numbers. So, my concerns weren't quite "meaningless" to GSI. It's just that the quality of Stahls' is very inconsistent. You can see here that football jersey fans also have their issues with Stahls': http://www.jerseycentral.org/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=3251
nogoal99
I know I just did a tear about the quality of nhl.com, but my buddy just got his wife a caps wc womens cut. And it was very well done. The numbers were all the right size for womens, very good stitching, even all the stars were sewn down. He did order it on 12/12 and it came in monday, even though it was said to be here by xmas. It seems like its more hit or miss rather than just all crap.
