orangecrush8
What is the white nameplate supposed to look like. Mine came in the mail today and when i compare it to game worn jerseys from Meigray it looks like its a completely different fabric. Sorry i cant post pictures until this weekend but i would like someone to tell or show me what the white name plate should be like. On my jersey the name plate is used by the same material that the jersey is. Is this right?

I have an orange edge Coburn 2.0 from 08-09 which can be viewed in my webshots album below. The nameplate on the jersey is made out of a solid white twill and it looks like the nameplate material was the same for 09-10. There is a new font that they have been wearing as well. As for why they are using twill on the gamers my guess would be that the white edge material seems to be a bit see through and does not provide a solid background for the letters on the orange jerseys. Also on the white retro winter classic gamers and most likely the white road gamers this year they use a material similar to black ultrafil for the nameplate with the same font in white for the letters. It appears that the old thicker varsity font they have used for a long time is gone.

When you say its solid white twill does that mean that it differs from the jersey itself? My jersey is only a replica, but the nameplate (has Giroux on the back) has the mini holes in it much like the jersey. I bought a JVR winter classic previously from IJ and the nameplate looks way better. I just want to make sure iv gotten the on ice. The representative who i spoke with earlier told me everything is right, but when i look at your Coburn jersey and other flyers jerseys on Meigray i have to think different. rob77ta
Yes the material is completely different than the back of the jersey. It is a very smooth white twill similar to what they would use for the numbers and letters. There should not be holes in the nameplate. Did they apply Giroux in the correct font? That's exactly what I was hoping to hear. The customer service representative I spoke to told me at least twice that the nameplate is the same material as the jersey and its what they get from Reebok. As for the font, its looks relatively the same compared to yours. But what I do notice that I didn't before I looked at your Coburn jersey is that on my Giroux jersey, the name plate looks to be taller than yours. Like there is excess white below and above the letters Do you have any suggestions on what I should do regarding the nameplate. Like I said I have already spoken with one of the customer service representatives, is there a different way of about going this? Thanks again for all your help
rob77ta
Well it looks like they are unwilling to correct it. I don't know if you are local to Philly but according to the guy at the Flyers Skate Zone pro shop a company named Jersey Express is now doing the on ice jerseys for the Flyers. That is not confirmed though. I will say that what they had in the store that was customized by this company looked good. Will they do a nameplate only? Not sure. Wanting the on ice materials they use on the gamers is not always easy to track down. Another possibility would be Exclusive Pro Sports. They will probably do just a nameplate for you. I have not seen any of their work yet on the new edge jerseys but they can match nameplate materials and fonts dead on for pre-edge 6100 style jerseys for the Flyers. akteon
I wouldn't say that IJ is unwilling to fix the situation just yet. It sounds like there has been a lot of confusion on both ends when talking about this with the customer service rep as to what was expected and what was delivered. Could you post some pics of the nameplate on the jersey you got back from IJ? Perhaps we could put them side by side with a pic from a gamer or one of Rob's jerseys and then see what IJ says. As far as I know they have a tremendous history of doing what it takes to fix any mistakes.

One of the nameplate upclose, the other of the whole name plate. They are crappy quality (I used my computer to take the pictures) Im not sure these will work but il give it a try

I will have better pictures up by Thursday when I have access to a camera. They didn't say they would not fix it, they just said that this is what players wear on the ice. But its clearly not. Its the same fabric as the jersey itself. If you actually look close enough you can see orange through the nameplate from the actual jersey. Like what was stated above, I expected the name plate to be basically the number like material. Every picture I have seen online of official jerseys shows a solid white nameplate. There is even a review on IJ.com of the orange Flyers replica jersey. In this review, there was a photo attached to it. Its a picture of his Pelle Lindbergh orange jersey. The name plate on the picture there is completely solid. The IJ representative just told me that because its from far away it looks solid but that its actually the same material as the jersey. And now when i get information from someone who has an official game worn jersey and they say its a solid white name plate, I have to question IJ with their information. EDIT: I realize that those pictures dont work. Whats the best way to post pictures on here? Edited October 5, 2010 by orangecrush8

I have seen some mesh with twill name plates but it didn't seem to be the norm. The Flyers current orange jersey should have a twill name plate. orangecrush8
Chris from IJ called a left me a message and basically told me to just take a picture and send it to them. Im very relieved that he called because clearly whoever i was talking to, told him about the problem.

Shenanigans
Just a quick grab off getty, the nameplate itself looks the right height. Font seems thick on yours though. Possibly due to the distance difference in the two photos, but I don't think my eyes are that bad..
TMLFAN
The name font is off a little. You can see it on the "G" Clearly. Also, it looks like the black outline on the numbers is not thick enough but I am not sure on that.

xcdude
The nameplate is also right. It's a premier right? Because that looks like the same material from the jersey.
orangecrush8
The nameplate is also right. It's a premier right? Because that looks like the same material from the jersey. Yes its the same material from the jersey. BUT on IJ it doesn't matter which jersey you get, they specifically say this: "To set the record straight, when you shop at IceJerseys, you can be assured that whether you order customization on a new Rbk EDGE Authentic, Premier Replica, Youth Premier Replica, or the classic 6100 Authentic or 550 Replica jerseys, you will always receive the same authentic pro-style customization. That means everything is done to match exactly what is worn by the players on the ice. " Thats taken right off the website, so it doesn't matter if it's a replica, it should be authentic customization

Shenanigans
I have a feeling the IJ customization guide may have been written before the 1.0/2.0 EDGE situation came about. That being said, orangecrush, you'll definitely get everything stitched on the right way as opposed to the NHL.com or other store custom jobs which are heatpress. That's the authentic they refer too.
