Modano9
I found a few patches on ebay Id like to put on some of my Stars jerseys. Now my buddy informs me there's real and there's fke patches out there. As if things weren't already complicated enough. Wondering if you could help me with these, and if there's a rule of thumb to go by generally or signs to look for. Thanks. http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=200474750926&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=190400530884&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=190400530886&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=200477157309&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT http://cgi.ebay.ca/NHL-2000-MILENNIUM-JERSEY-PATCH-DALLAS-STARS-/390188614849?cmd=ViewItem&pt=U_Hockey_Fan_Shop&hash=item5ad90dc4c1 http://cgi.ebay.ca/2000-NHL-STANLEY-CUP-JERSEY-PATCH-DEVILS-DALLAS-STARS-/390208633667?cmd=ViewItem&pt=U_Hockey_Fan_Shop&hash=item5ada3f3b43

akteon
1. No 2. Yes Thanks for the reply. When you say yes do you mean yes fake or yes real ? No means fake, yes means real, or at least a very good reproduction. The NHL 75th Anny patch should have an finished edge like the second one. Brilliant!
Here's some decent versions of the ones you're looking for: http://cgi.ebay.com/Stanley-Cup-100th-Anniversary-1893-1993-AUTHENTIC-Patch-/290445552450?cmd=ViewItem&pt=Vintage_Sports_Memorabilia&hash=item439fe76b42 http://cgi.ebay.com/1999-Stanley-Cup-NHL-Hockey-PATCH-Dallas-Stars-/310158185406?cmd=ViewItem&pt=U_Hockey_Fan_Shop&hash=item4836de53be - You'll need to round off the tails on this one to make it accurate http://cgi.ebay.com/NHL-2000-STANLEY-CUP-CHAMPIONSHIP-PATCH-/390108737652?cmd=ViewItem&pt=U_Hockey_Fan_Shop&hash=item5ad44af074 - It doesn't have the pointed tails like the game version but the font thickness is the closest to the real deal
Modano9
Cool thanks. The one guy with the 1993 100th anniv patch also has this 75th anniv patch. Going by the last ones you critiqued, Im gonna say its a decent repro ? Because of the edging ? http://cgi.ebay.com/National-Hockey-League-75th-Anniversary-AUTHENTIC-Patch-/290445552569?cmd=ViewItem&pt=Vintage_Sports_Memorabilia&hash=item439fe76bb9

They sell legit patches and are all around good folks. I honestly don't know if at this point any of the original 75th Anny patches are still around considering it's been 18 years, but the one Murf and Pat sell that you linked is as good as you can get. Brilliant!
Right. The ones with the tight little raised lip around the border are as close as you can come nowadays. Compare to a gamer:

Brilliant!
Yeah, but remember, you're in Canada. It'll take a little longer to arrive to those of us in the States. I will echo your statement though that they do have quality stuff. I've bought from them numerous times and have yet to be disappointed. Modano9
Thanks guys I really appreciate all the help. I had no idea up until late last night there was more to this. Glad I know though. Hawksfan79 says on the patch thread to never glue patches. I glued a '99 Cup patch to a white Modano a couple years ago. It looks great. Whats the negative when it comes to ironing it on with the glue as opposed to a sew on ? Edited June 20, 2010 by Modano9
