Sluggermatt15
I need some assistance with these patches. I am thinking of buying them, but I need some verification to determine if they are legit or fakes. Does this one seem legit? How about the seller? http://cgi.ebay.com/1967-STANLEY-CUP-CHAMP...p3286.m20.l1116 This one too: http://cgi.ebay.com/NHL-TORONTO-MAPLE-LEAF...93%3A1|294%3A50 Thanks everyone for your help. I am new to collecting patches and I obviously want to buy real legitimate ones and not accidentally fakes that can be found there on ebay. Brilliant!
Unfortunately, it's really hard to find actual OFFICIAL patches on eBay now. Most of the ones that are up there are reproductions. Some of them are crappy but some are really nice as well. That first one is probably just something that was dreamed up by a fan or something like that because I'm pretty sure that there were no patches worn back in 1967. The Maple Leaf Gardens one though; that one looks pretty good. That's a tough patch to find too so that may be your best bet.
JeffB
Looking through that sellers inventory from the second patch, there are some reproductions in there. The Tampa Bay Cullen patch was green silk screened onto white twill and not white embroidered onto green. It looks nice enough, but it's not an original. seebee
if it is a reproduction, it certainly is very good and looks original!
Sluggermatt15
Thanks for everyone's input. How do you feel about reproduction patches? Would you ever get one sewn onto one of your jerseys? Or do you only get the original patches sewn on?
madflava
Thanks for everyone's input. How do you feel about reproduction patches? Would you ever get one sewn onto one of your jerseys? Or do you only get the original patches sewn on? I try to get originals when I can but some are just impossible to find these days. I'm o.k. with using a reproduction as long as it looks exactly like the original.
Sluggermatt15
I was looking to buy patches of older and now defunct nhl teams. I take it this old Pittsburgh Pirates NHL patch is a reproduction patch... http://cgi.ebay.com/NHL-Pittsburgh-Pirates...34.c0.m14.l1262 If I were to buy, do you guys think it's "good enough" to buy, or would you try and find a different one? Thanks.
