2010 Olympic Jersey arrived today

Calciomania

So is Ice Jerseys now using the correct numbering template for the Russian and USA jerseys now? Captnstabn posted pics of a jersey he ordered from IJ that has the back and numbering done by Nike but it appears the numbers on the shoulders were done by IJ. The font on his shoulder numbering is exactly the same used on the back of Calciomania's jersey which isn't accurate to actual jersey. Will this problem be corrected for future jerseys? Also would it be possible to post a list of teams that you have nameplate material for? That way people won't be surprised when they get a jersey with names sewn directly on the jersey.

Let me confirm the current situation and get back with a response shortly...

so first thanks to CryWolf for the detailed explanation...

I understand your problems with Nike and that Nike was not very helpful to you in all of this.

I know also that i wrote that i want the Jerseys before Olympics, but i think thats normal that every customer wants this for an IIHF Olympic Jersey:)

But i don't know that i also have to place in the Special instructions for ordering that i'm a collector and wants the original customization. I ordered some time ago NHL Jerseys and this customization was perfect from IJ. I don't want to say only the bad side...also what was very good in the past.

I wanted to order again Jerseys from IJ, but now i'm unsure because of this.

now it's possible to order original customization with namebars and original fonts, but it wasn't end of december.

That's a bit frustrating for me. :(

Will confirm and get back on this....

Did you ever figure this out?

CryWolf, any update if IJ is now using the right Number font for Russia and the list of teams with nameplate material.

CryWolf, any update if IJ is now using the right Number font for Russia and the list of teams with nameplate material.

We made a slight modification to the 8 in the IIHF font, and it is more accurate now. We have namebars available only for the following jersey colors:

Red

Navy

Light Blue (Finland)

Others just aren't available from Nike,so we have no choice but to go direct (unless you want a non-matched ugly namebar on your jersey).

In addition, since ALL replicas have a higher seam at the shoulders than the authentics worn on ice, names have to be placed higher - nothing we can do about that. This might not be an issue where we have a namebar and a solid color jersey (such as with Russia, as we can put the namebar over the seam to place it a bit lower). In the case where we don't have namebars however, the names have to go above the seam - no choice. Another example of a problem, is Canada's white jersey, which uses a red namebar on the yoke, but it has to be placed above the seam so it won't overlap onto the white.

As you can see, customization can be a complex issue. At IceJerseys we always evaluate how to BEST customize a jersey given the numerous limitations, inconsistencies and restrictions that we face with each different jersey. There is hardly ever a cut and dried perfectly correct way to customize a jersey (as much as many of the readers of this forum would like to believe). There are just way too many variables that come into play to make this the science that everyone thinks that it is. In fact, from game to game and jersey to jersey, you can even see inconsistencies worn on the ice by actual NHL players - so often, the holy grail that we are being compared to is in itself flawed.

All we can say, is that we are ALWAYS putting our customer's best interests at heart when we customize a jersey (trying to get the best possible match, and delivered on time). However, the many variables at play affect how much that jersey will match the one worn on the ice by the actual player. Some of these factors include:

- Consistency/quality of the actual team customization & materials (every team uses different customers from in-house staff to outsourced operations)

- Jersey size (if a player is wearing a size 60 authentic, and you order a small replica, the spacing and geography of the jersey is dramatically different)

- Replica vs. Authentic - as illustrated above, replicas are REPLICAS! So, the seams and placement of various jersey elements will be different - unavoidable

- Namebar material: Although we have namebar material available for about 90% of the jerseys we do, there are some that we just can't get - IIHF has been a major problem. It isn't just IJ, the material simply is not out there.

- League communication: If they don't know what the hell is going on in terms of customization style - how can we?

Keep in mind that this board represents a tiny minority of our customers. The vast majority of our customers know that we offer the best quality and consistency and reliability in terms of jersey customization available. When they get their professionally sewn customized jersey delivered on schedule... they just want to wear it. Most customers are not inclined to scour the internet for photos while reaching for their protractor to see if the namebar is 1/8th of an inch lower than in a Getty image shot of the one worn by their favorite player in last night's game. That is not to say that we don't care about accuracy - we do tremendously, however if we painstakingly analyzed every jersey that went out the door for the slightest discrepancies with what may be interpreted as the customization 'standard' (when one really doesn't exist), we would never deliver any jerseys! Our goal is to do the best possible work and satisfy our customers by meeting and exceeding their expectations. In the rare instance when this does not happen (such as this case), we will do what we can to come up with a reasonable solution.

I am hoping that this will give everyone a better understanding of what we are up against, while also allowing you to not stress so much about slight discrepancies in jersey customization. We are doing the best customization available - and we stand behind that and will put our customization up against ANY other provider. In the rare case where there is an obvious error, customer service will be happy to help resolve the situation.

I don't know what more I can say on this matter.

Thanks for the update CryWolf,

Any recommenations for how to handle a white Nike jersey? Is it best to sew the name on directly or use airknit as a substitute for swift material. Also, it was pointed out that not only the 8 in IIHF font was not accurate but the 1 and 7 were too.
