Super_Mario_66
I just purchased a '95-'96 authentic Starter Avs jersey in a size 48. Once I received it and tried it on, it fit small. Do authentic Starter jerseys normally run small? What size should I try to get now? I wear an XL in a Starter replica and the only authentic I own is a Nike size 52 which is huge on me. I have the opportunity to purchase a '97-'98 authentic Starter Avs jersey in a size 54 but have no clue how it will fit. I'm 5'11' 200. Any help on this matter is greatly appreciated. Saint Louis Blues
My Starters of that era are all 52 or 54. I'm 6'1 220 and they fit me. I can barely get a sweatshirt (hoodie) on under under them. My Son has a 48, but he's a lot smaller than me. I doubt that I could put on a 48 and be able to move. rabinsurance
Starter authentic jerseys did seem to fit a bit smaller, especially that 1st year Avs, which was their first authentic they made. Nike jersyes, OTOH, tended to run a bit bigger in fit. If a size 52 Nike is big on you, a 54 Starter should be OK. I have quite a few 52 Starters, a couple 54's, and one 56, and they all seem smaller than Nike/CCM/PP. The only 48 Starter I have is a later era Avs, and it is a smaller jersey, especially in the sleeve length.
akteon
Starter jerseys had some sizing issues from what I have found - atleast with their NHL authentics. It seems to me that the jerseys made in the US (Berlin, WI) that were mainly team issue were more "true to size" than some of the Starter authentics made in El Salvador or Haiti. Below are some comparison shots - the bottom white jersey is a 58 (made in the US). The Avs jersey is a 60, and the Navy Liberty is a 52, both made outside the US. Because of this when I buy a Starter authentic, I always ask the seller from an armpit to armpit measurement regardless of the tag size. DaNoobie
Does that mean the 52 Navy and 60 Avs are the same size Akteon? If so, thats crazy!

The 52 Navy is Haiti or El Salvador, I don't recall. The 60 and the 52 are basically the same size, and were approximately the size of a size 56 6100 style.
